The Workforce Group is currently seeking skilled Equipment Operator to join our Disaster Emergency Response team. As an Equipment Operator on our Disaster Emergency Response team, you will be responsible for operating telehandlers to assist in the movement and management of materials during emergency deployments. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting recovery and relief efforts in disaster-affected areas.

Material handling/Heavy equipment/Forklift/Telehandler certification required.

Location: TBD based on activation


Availability: Ideal candidates for these response missions will be available to deploy within 24 to 72 hours of notification.

These are contract positions and, if activated, will likely require travel on short notice, generally lasting from several days to a few weeks and possibly 30 days or more, depending on the disaster response needs.


Responsibilities:

  • Operate telehandlers to load, unload, and transport materials in disaster-affected areas.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of logistics operations during emergency deployments.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of telehandlers to ensure operational readiness.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment, even in challenging conditions.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and emergency response personnel to achieve operational goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of all equipment usage and maintenance activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or associate degree preferred. Valid telehandler operator certification/training. Proven experience operating telehandlers, preferably in emergency or disaster response settings.

  • Willingness to be on emergency standby and deployed at short notice.
  • Strong understanding of equipment safety protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in high-pressure situations.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Working Conditions: This position requires the ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and potentially hazardous environments. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed during emergency deployments. Must be able to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
