Lowboy Driver/Heavy Equipment Operator
Position Overview:
The Truck Driver is responsible for operating a commercial heavy truck on public highways and on
construction jobsites in a safe and efficient manner. Heavy trucks may include end dump trucks, dump
trucks, water trucks, or lowboy trailer trucks. End dump and Dump trucks will haul aggregates, sand,
concrete, hot-mix asphalt, and other construction materials to active work zones. Lowboy drivers will haul
heavy equipment to and from jobsites. The commercial truck driver must also complete pre-trip checks,
assist with fluid checks and maintenance, securing loads, cleaning, and other duties as directed by the
Foreman or Operations Manager. This position is primarily a field-based position but may also be required
to complete task in the office.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
Performs daily maintenance and pre-trip checks.
Complies with truck driving rules and regulations.
Meets delivery and pickup schedules.
Operates the truck in a safe and efficient manner according to company policy, as well as FMCA
guidelines.
Long and short distance driving.
Obeys and follows applicable traffic laws.
Maneuvers and back truck as required. Must be able to drive a 13 speed manual transmission.
Working knowledge of construction job-site activities.
Carries and displays licenses as required by law.
Makes safety programs a matter of vital concern.
Participates and engages in safety meetings.
Wears PPE.
Follows all safety rules, housekeeping mandates, and reports hazards and incidents.
Reports defects, accidents, and violations.
Follows all verbal and written directions.
Willingness and demonstrative ability to take direction from senior truck drivers.
Not afraid to ask questions and request training.
Participates in required meetings.
Demonstrates imitative to improve own knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Dresses in appropriate attire.
Tracks all time worked on pay sheets.
Performs daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.).
Secures truck at end of shift.
Maintains physical stamina and fitness to operate truck without injury.
Acts in a professional manner.
Is prepared to answer questions from dispatch, foreman, various managers, and senior drivers.
Good attitude and people skills.
Must foster harmonious interactions and relationships and maintain basic standards of civility in
the workplace.
Is a productive team member that supports the team by going where needed, assisting where
needed, and maintains good working relationships (fellow drivers, site crews, management,
administration, and customers).
Ability to handle a great deal of stress over long periods of time.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
21 years of age minimum
Must have a valid CDL with good driving record and no major violations.
Able to pass pre-employment testing, including a drug screen and physical.
Trained to operate tractor-trailer.
Knowledge of various construction equipment.
Good customer services skills to deal with both internal and external customers.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well organized.
Able to use cell phone, cell phone apps, and CB radio.
Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.
Must read and speak English.
Complies with all applicable safety, environment, health and waste management policies and
procedures.
U.S. Citizenship, permanent residency, or work visa is required.
Certificates/Licenses:
Valid Medial Card
Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Employee must have the ability to self-supervise. They may be responsible for working independently
with direction from senior employees, supervisor, or manager.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. Must be able to climb in and around assigned trucks. Must be able
to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold. Failure to meet these requirements may
result in withdrawal of employment or other employment action.

Excellent communications skills required due to the need to work with other drivers, coworkers, dispatch,
supervisors, management, administration, external and internal customers. Documents load activity, pre-
trip checks, and other required DOT documentation.
