Position Summary: DLS is looking for a talented and passionate Business Development Director to join our dynamic Preclinical sales team. As a Business Development Director, you will play a pivotal role in consistently developing and closing new and repeat business from customer and prospect accounts in an assigned territory. A Day in the Life of a Business Development Director at Discovery Life Sciences: Prospect and source potential new ADME/Toxicology customers. Meet with potential customers to understand their scientific research and where our company can add value to their research. Attend networking events within the proteomics, genomic research industry. Collaborate with scientific SMEs to obtain sales contracts. Build and update business development strategy for current territory. Position Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience): Minimum of eight (8) years of biotech-related sales experience required. Minimum of three (3) years of ADME-Tox-related sales experience preferred. Motivation to communicate directly with potential clients via both e-mail and phone. Ability to build and nurture relationships with clients and potential clients. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Docs. Must be fluent in English. Key Responsibilities: Meet, call, and email clients at biotech/pharmaceutical/diagnostics companies, CROs, and academic institutions to identify and discuss product and research service needs. Pitch and present Preclinical portfolio of products and services. Attend key conferences and local tradeshows. Coordinate large, strategic meetings between customer’s senior scientific leadership and appropriate Company leadership to win large-scale projects with substantial revenue potential. Become a subject matter expert in the Company’s core competencies in order to effectively discuss projects with R&D groups, business directors, legal departments, and purchasing managers. Present and help evaluate the workability of client projects with Discovery Life Sciences’ product management, project management, production, scientific leadership, 3rd party distribution partners, and internal and external collaborators. Productively manage an opportunity pipeline (75+ open opportunities) with updated next steps and feedback from customers. Consistently advance calls and win business by setting clear next steps and properly executing them. Report market intel back to the team by documenting sales calls and client feedback. Work cooperatively with inside sales support professionals, Global Account Managers, fellow Business Development Directors, and Marketing to maximize sales success in assigned territory. Location and work hours: Remote - Must be located in Germany or The United Kingdom. Up to 50% domestic and international travel required for mandatory site meetings and trainings.
