to the under-served populations including the formerly homeless and incarcerated, disconnected youth, veterans, and people living with AIDS. Our flagship transitional work program– Ready, Willing & Able– integrates paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to facilitate an individual’s return to mainstream society.

We are seeking a Program Director for The Doe Fund’s newest permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four-hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents’ independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. This 98-unit residence will provide housing for 49 individuals referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA), and the remaining 49 units will be apartments for moderate-income households.

The Program Director will provide leadership and direction to staff and residents. The successful candidate will have strong leadership, communication, and management skills along with experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, relevant New York City and State agencies, and funding sources.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the administrative, operational, building maintenance, and residential services of the program.

Provide direct supervision to the Tenant Service Coordinators and ensure that staff are providing adequate supportive case management services to the residents.

Draft and implement policies and procedures.

Monitor program budget and contracts and ensure that proper documentation is provided for all expenses and accounts.

Oversee the intake process and ensure the program is operating at full capacity at all times.

Provide 24-hour on-call crisis intervention when needed.

Provide training to staff on various topics including harm reduction, substance abuse, and mental health.

Ensure compliance with HRA contract and performance standards.

Responsible for the completion of various reports.

Conduct performance evaluations on all supervisees.

Facilitate staff meetings, clinical meetings, and resident community meetings.

Conduct internal audits and quality assurance checks to ensure timely and accurate completion and submission of all required documentation.

Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and community organizations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a relevant field is preferred. At least a Bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned areas of study/concentration.

At least 5 years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness including those diagnosed with substance use and/or mental illness.

Strong leadership skills, including outstanding organizational and time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate staff and residents.

Lived experience a plus.

Excellent clinical and case management skills.

Sensitivity to community issues and needs.

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

Strong ethical standards, confidentiality, and personal integrity.

Computer proficiency (i.e., email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
