Job Description
Siema Construction is a small but growing heavy highway/civil construction company for 20-plus years focused on commercial site work, hauling, concrete paving, bridge repairs, and building foundations.
Job Summary
Heavy Equipment Operator Foremen will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy highway construction equipment, managing the cost, budgets, and schedule of jobs with safety and quality in mind. While also managing crews to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.

- Understand the value of teamwork and communication with others, necessary to operate onsite construction activities (grading & excavating) efficiently.
- Required to proficiently operate multiple or all of Siema Construction’s core equipment (Dozer, Excavator, Motor Grader, Concrete Pavers, Skid Steer, etc.)
- Proficient in two or more major construction activities (grading, installation of stormwater drainage systems, demolition, etc.).
- Ability to run and manage a pipe/earthwork crew, install drainage, structures, box culverts, grading, slopes, layout, etc.
- Responsible for routine inspection and maintenance of equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, and teach plan reading.
- Must have good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
- Maintain a high level of morale among crew members and work as a student and a teacher.
- Possess a Valid Driver's license and meet the criteria to drive a Siema Vehicle
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to understand field stakes and perform necessary layout for material installation.
- Proficient at reading, writing, basic addition, and subtraction.
- Ability to manage aspects of construction - scheduling, cost, safety, and quality.

Experience
Heavy Equipment Operation: 5 Years (Required)
Foreman Role: 3 Years (Preferred)
HCSS Application (Preferred)
Work Location: Primary location - Lake Charles. Jobs can also be located in Lafayette and surrounding areas.
