Bi-lingual Heavy Equipment Operator, II Job at Evergreen Siteworks in Opelika

Job Summary:

The Equipment Operator Level II will operate heavy machinery for demolition or excavation projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:Duties/Responsibilities:

• Operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including backhoes, front-end loaders, rollers, bulldozers, excavators, or grading tractors.
• Prepares construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
• Uses excavating machinery to dig holes and trenches used in storm and sanitary sewer.
• Transports tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites.
• Uses equipment to prepare building sites for mass excavation and storm and sanitary sewer.
• Working knowledge of GPS a plus.
• Inspects and fuels machinery and vehicles prior to beginning shift.
• Performs routine maintenance and repairs and monitors gauges and other indicators for safe operation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Must be willing to travel when necessary

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.
• Ability to read building plans related to structural concrete and land grades.
• Excellent mechanical skills.
• GPS knowledge
• Ability to follow instructions.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational school training or apprenticeship preferred.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
• Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
• Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
