General Summary

The Warehouse Equipment Operator is responsible for loading and unloading frieght of various sizes, by using various types of equipment to do so. training and managing employees who perform daily warehouse functions. Collaborate with the customer service team and any other related departments. Maintain a safe working environment that meets fire and safety standards as well as OSHA requirements. Effectively utilizes the company’s WMS/ERP.

Primary / Key Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Use safe lifting techniques to properly load and unload freight.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment ensuring the exact number and types of products is loaded
  • Select and use proper freight handling equipment to load and unload freight, such equipment many include forklifts with appropriate hardware, Bendi machine, Clamp forklifts, Electric pallet jacks, Reach machine, and any other available equipment to move, load arrange, rearrange, and unload freight.
  • Plan cube utilization and proper weight distribution when loading freight
  • Count and inspect the condition of freight, documenting any shortages or damage
  • Review Freight bills for special instructions, along with checking manifests for existing exceptions and check the label and the destination code on manifests against fright bills.
  • Properly block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
  • Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailer(s) before loading freight.
  • Maintain the facilities equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion
  • Assist in physical inventories
  • Complete daily inspection equipment
  • Change equipment battery or LP tank and monitor power source as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Forklift operator certificate
  • Experience with forklifts and related equipment, previously held a Forklift Certification
  • Interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability
  • Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler experience
  • Calm disposition and ability to work under fast-paced and stressful workloads

Education and/or Experience and Qualifications

Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED

Minimum Experience: Basic computer skills
