Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot a wide range of heavy construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical repair and a deep understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various types of heavy equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and dump trucks.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Disassemble, inspect, and repair or replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, and electrical systems.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and other metalworking tasks as required for repairs or modifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, parts inventory, and maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshooting and resolve breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime for equipment and operations.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, operating procedures, and environmental regulations during repairs and maintenance work.
  • Participate in equipment inspections, ensuring all equipment meets safety and operational standards.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (Technical or vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics preferred).
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
  3. In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
  4. Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  6. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  7. Valid driver's license; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) may be required for some positions.
  8. Certifications in equipment repair, welding, or other relevant fields are a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with varying hours based on job needs.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • Travel to job sites or equipment locations as needed.
