Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot a wide range of heavy construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical repair and a deep understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various types of heavy equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and dump trucks.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Disassemble, inspect, and repair or replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, and electrical systems.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and other metalworking tasks as required for repairs or modifications.
- Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, parts inventory, and maintenance schedules.
- Troubleshooting and resolve breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime for equipment and operations.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, operating procedures, and environmental regulations during repairs and maintenance work.
- Participate in equipment inspections, ensuring all equipment meets safety and operational standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Technical or vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
- In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) may be required for some positions.
- Certifications in equipment repair, welding, or other relevant fields are a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with varying hours based on job needs.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- Travel to job sites or equipment locations as needed.
