Field Mechanic - Heavy Equipment (Asphalt Paving Construction)
Location: Richmond, Texas (with travel to project sites in surrounding areas)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM

What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
Repair and Maintain Heavy Equipment. Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment, including bulldozers, trackhoes, asphalt pavers, rollers, milling machines, and haul trucks.
Field Service. Travel to various job sites within the coastal Texas region to provide on-site mechanical support and emergency repairs, ensuring minimal downtime and peak performance of our equipment.
Welding and Fabrication. Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks as needed to repair or modify equipment components.
Hydraulic and Electrical Systems. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems on heavy equipment.
Document and Record Information. Ensure correct and accurate documentation is completed on a daily and monthly basis regarding all repairs, maintenance, and parts used.
Operate Equipment. Assist in driving heavy equipment and vehicles throughout the shop and project sites when necessary to ensure production continues efficiently.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills You'll Need:
Experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanic working on heavy equipment in the construction or related industry, with specific experience on bulldozers, trackhoes, and asphalt paving equipment.
Mechanical Skills. Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and powertrains. Basic welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
Problem-Solving. Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to quickly identify and resolve issues.
Physical Requirements. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Communication. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with operators, supervisors, and other team members.
Valid Driver's License. Clean driving record and ability to operate company service vehicles.
