A Day In The Life Of Our Sr. Commodity Manager:
Own assigned commodity categories and drive strategies and tactics necessary to establish and run a supply base that achieves the quality, cost, and delivery results needed to meet Noah’s goals.
Organize BOM components into commodity groups both short term and long term so that new components can be driven to the right manufacturing process considering the volume three or more years out.
Work cross-functionally with DE and SE teams to support early-stage sourcing and procurement of NPI prototype and pre-production materials.
Manually plan order actions based on engineering level bills of material, project schedules, MRP and demand plans.
Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
Source custom components through new and existing suppliers; obtain quotations, place purchase orders, expedite and track receipts.
Review production build plans for the procurement of production components and supplies.
Monitor open purchase orders and lead-time; follow up as necessary with suppliers on orders.
Escalate to Supplier Engineering material shortages, quality and cost issues.
Ensure MRP information or data is accurate and current as well as the MRP system is used correctly.
Maintain metrics and manage supplier delivery, quality and cost issues.
Escalate to SE material shortages due to capacity, quality issues, and cost challenges.
Visit suppliers for initial assessments and quality audits as well as to manage and maintain the relationships.
Draft, negotiate and close on Master Supply Agreements (MSA).
Other related duties.
About You:
Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of experience (or equivalent overall experience) in planning and purchasing custom components in a production environment.
Experience working with Engineering in a pre-commercial launch environment.
Knowledge of bills of materials, routings, and manufacturing scheduling.
Experience with ERP and PLM systems.
Advanced Excel user with ability to create V-Look Up and Pivot tables.
Knowledge of inventory control, material receipt, and cycle count programs.
Highly organized and can communicate effectively for providing status and problem resolution.
