Position Overview Franklin Templeton is hiring a California based Regional Director to join our Retirement DCIO channel to cover the California region. The role is responsible for developing and deepening relationships with retirement and defined contribution (DCIO) partners, as well as internal partners across the CA territory.
The Retirement Plan Director generates sales and retains assets for Franklin Templeton within the Retirement Defined Contribution Investment-Only (DCIO) business. The role manages and cultivates relationships with Mid-Market Consultants, Retirement Intermediaries, and Third-Party Administrators who have a business focus in the large, mid and small retirement plan segments. The primary objective is to influence the placement and retention of Franklin Templeton Investment Strategies within various workplace solutions. This position requires a high-level of institutional investment acumen, an extensive background in the defined contribution plan market, a high level of knowledge on regulatory impact, business building and practice management issues, and deemed a subject matter expert and credible resource by internal and external audiences.
The Senior Retirement Plan Director maintains regular contact with retirement wholesalers of major distribution partners and is expected to build and maintain productive relationships with other Franklin Templeton sales channels such as Consultant Relations and Retail Sales.
Responsibilities
Manage and cultivate key intermediary/provider relationships and developing fund sales through those contacts.
Partner with wholesalers of national recordkeeping platforms to further enhance awareness of Franklin Templeton investment capabilities.
Market Franklin Templeton's value-added programs to help Retirement Intermediaries design better plan solutions and grow their book of business.
Maintain knowledge of industry related trends/topics and maintain proficiencies in delivering value-added presentations to advisor and plan sponsor audiences.
Qualifications
10+ years of field consulting/sales experience within the DC and investment industry.
CFA and other professional investment/retirement designations preferred (e.g. CRPC, CRPS).
FINRA Series 7 & 63 Licenses required.
Advanced investment and product knowledge including Target Date Solutions and Stable Value.
Strong relationship management skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a large territory with many moving parts.
Strong sales skills focused on closing.
Public speaking and seminar experience.
Experience working within the territory, California, preferred.
Compensation Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We expect the base salary for this position to be $150,000 per year plus an opportunity to earn other incentives, including discretionary bonus and commission.
