Business Unit Overview
New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States. Every agent is affiliated with one of our General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales. Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.
Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing, and communications supports our agents and field managers. The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market and select cultural markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.
This role will primarily cover New York City Metro General Offices (including New Jersey) and Boston Metro General Offices.
What You’ll Do:
Support Agents, GO Management, and Consultants by providing one-on-one case consultation and case design services to help identify and implement various estate, charitable, transnational, business, executive benefits and retirement planning concepts and strategies in connecting with sales of our company’s products.
The role covers target offices primarily in the New York City (including New Jersey) and Boston metros.
Provide in-person and virtual support to Agents, Sales Development Managers, Product Consultants, and other New York Life management and personnel requiring assistance with the technical, legal and tax aspects of advanced estate, business, executive benefits and retirement planning tools and techniques.
Work jointly with other divisions of New York Life Insurance Company to develop and promote advanced market initiatives for the sale and marketing of our Company’s Life Insurance products.
Develop marketing, sales and educational materials for agents, clients and their advisors on advanced market life insurance and other insurance product applications, including estate, business, executive benefits, and retirement planning strategies.
What You’ll Bring:
JD degree preferred. Life Insurance experience preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in point of sales, field experience supporting agents in closing complex Life Insurance cases.
Strong knowledge and experience in the Advanced Markets, including estate, transnational planning, retirement, executive benefits, and business planning expertise.
Ability to communicate effectively with Agents, clients, and other advisors (attorneys, CPA's). Adept at presenting complex topics in understandable terms to not only solve clients' problems but to lead to sale.
Professional written and oral communication style as well as strong organizational skills.
Strong relationship management skills; effectively work with agents and management within the general offices, the Advanced Planning team as well as cross functionally with other Product areas.
25 - 50% travel is required.
The role requires the consultant to be located in or relocate to the New York City metro.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: No
Sales bonus eligible: Yes
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
