Job Overview
The ideal candidate must possess strong leadership skills, knowledge of supply chain management, good in his/her understanding of relevant IT tools, and a deep understanding of the warehousing, paper, and plastics trading industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
Lead and oversee the daily operations, ensuring that procurement chain, warehouse operations, necessary support to sales, logistics on the floor, and inventory management are streamlined and efficient.
Manage and optimize warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping of paper and plastic products.
Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and minimize operational costs.
Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts with suppliers and logistics providers.
Ensure that all operations are in compliance with industry regulations and company standards, especially concerning environmental sustainability and recycling regulations.
Supply Chain and Logistics
Oversee the end-to-end supply chain, including procurement, warehousing, and distribution processes.
Manage inbound and outbound shipments, both domestic and international, including customs clearance and documentation.
Coordinate with shipping carriers and freight forwarders to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
Monitor and optimize shipping and logistics costs to improve operational efficiency.
Ensure timely and efficient sourcing of materials, both locally and internationally.
Monitor and manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or excesses.
Sales and Customer Relationship Management
Collaborate with the Inside sales & leadership team to ensure that customer orders are fulfilled on time and as per specifications.
Work closely with key clients to build strong business relationships, understanding their requirements and ensuring consistent supply.
Address customer complaints or operational issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Team Leadership and Development
Manage operational budgets, aiming to control costs and enhance profitability.
Prepare and present operational reports to senior management and stakeholders, including cost analysis, inventory levels, and performance metrics.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, providing clear objectives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Conduct performance evaluations and manage team performance for all employees under his/her span of control.
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure the company complies with local, state, and international laws related to trade, transportation, and environmental regulations.
Work with HR to ensure necessary documentation/permits are procured.
Technology and Systems
Deep understanding of IT landscape and ability to ideate, implement and drive change management of new tools and techniques.
Utilize warehouse management systems and other software tools to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 7-10+ years in operations management, preferably in the paper and plastics trading or a related field.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the paper and plastics trading market, warehousing operations, supply chain processes, logistics, and regulatory compliance.
Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities. Proactive leadership qualities and willing to go beyond one’s call of duty. Available as needed. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. Proficiency in ERP systems, inventory management and supply chain software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment:
Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to handle multiple tasks and make quick decisions. Office + Warehouse based with necessity to meet suppliers, customers, and logistics partners as needed.
