Midwestern Electric, one of Indiana’s Premier Electrical Contractors is looking to hire a Master/Lead Mechanic.

 

Job Summary:

The Master/Lead Mechanic will perform repair work and maintenance for cars, trucks, and other motor vehicles including various pieces of construction equipment.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Consults with the drivers/operation leaders to collect information on problems with vehicles and equipment, and/or known maintenance or repairs required.

· Maintains, diagnoses and repairs a variety of equipment including medium and heavy-duty trucks.

· Performs tests on specific parts and systems to determine whether they are operating properly and in compliance with D.O.T.

· Examines critical parts and systems using standard checklists.

· Plans daily work tasks for group of technicians to positively impact company daily operations.

· Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.

· Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.

· Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

· Test drives vehicle to confirm proper operation, that repairs have been made properly, and that problems have been resolved.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair.

· Welding and familiarity with acetylene torch needed.

· Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software such as JPRO and/or JALTEST.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.

· Ability to read service and repair manuals.

· Ability to read work orders.

· Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.

 

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Master technician certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence or equivalent preferred.

· Two years of related experience required.

· CDL preferred but not required.

· Air brake certification needed per FMCA-49 CFR-Part 396.25

· Federal Inspector Certificate per FMCA-49-CFR-Part 396.19

 

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

· Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.

· Must have enough vision to inspect and complete repair work.
