The Master Planner will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining production schedules that optimize production capacity and meet customer demand. This role involves close collaboration with various departments, including procurement, production, quality assurance, and logistics, to ensure that all resources are utilized effectively, and production goals are achieved on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Planning:
    • Develop and maintain the master production schedule based on sales forecasts, historical data, and customer orders.
    • Adjust the production schedule as needed to accommodate changes in demand, raw material availability, or production issues.
    • Coordinate with production managers and planning team to ensure that daily and weekly production targets are met.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure optimal stock levels.
    • Work closely with procurement to manage raw material lead times and avoid production delays.
    • Implement strategies to minimize excess inventory and reduce waste.
  • Capacity Planning:
    • Analyze production capacity and identify bottlenecks that could impact the ability to meet production goals.
    • Recommend and implement solutions to optimize production efficiency, such as adjusting labor or machine utilization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
    • Work with quality assurance to ensure that all products meet safety and quality standards.
    • Coordinate with logistics and distribution teams to ensure timely delivery of finished products to customers.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Generate and analyze reports on production performance, inventory levels, and capacity utilization.
    • Provide regular updates to management on production status and any potential issues that may impact delivery schedules.
    • Use data-driven insights to improve production planning processes and reduce costs.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in production planning and scheduling.
    • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing production efficiency, reducing costs, or improving product quality.
    • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in production planning and supply chain management.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure that all production planning activities comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
    • Maintain accurate records of production schedules, inventory levels, and other relevant data.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in production planning multiple lines and multiple shifts, supply chain management, or a related role, preferably in the food industry.
    • Proven experience with production scheduling software and ERP systems.

  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards in food production.

  • Certifications:
    • APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) certification is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Regular visits to the production floor required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Exposure to food production environments, including temperature-controlled areas.
