Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated HVAC Master Technician to join our Dining Maintenance team within Student Affairs, overseeing both campus dining halls and shared academic facilities housed within these buildings. Reporting to the Dining Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort, efficiency, and reliability of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
o Install, Troubleshoot, and Repair: Manage hydronic heating and cooling systems, including steam, chilled water, and hot water systems.
o System Components: Air handlers, energy recovery units, VAV boxes, fan coil units, pumps, variable frequency drives, valves, and piping.
o Preventative Maintenance: Collaborate with the Dining Maintenance Manager and Supervisor to plan and implement effective preventative maintenance programs.
o Training and Development: Provide hands-on training and support to trainee-level employees and identify educational opportunities for the department.
o General Maintenance: Perform minor electrical, plumbing and dining equipment repairs as needed.
o On-Call Rotation: Participate in the rotational on-call schedule, responding to after-hours maintenance calls when required.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement and education within the department.
Required Qualifications
o Expertise in HVAC Systems: Proven knowledge of HVAC systems and components, ensuring high-quality maintenance and repairs.
o Hydronic Heating and Cooling: Extensive experience and understanding of hydronic heating and cooling systems.
o Blueprints and Schematics: Ability to accurately interpret and follow blueprints, schematic drawings, and specifications.
o Effective Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interactions with customers, co-workers, and leadership.
o Efficient Work Ethic: Capability to prioritize workload and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
o Professional Experience: Journeyman level experience or licensure in HVAC with ability to acquire DPOR Master's License within a year of employment.
o Flexibility and Reliability: Willingness to work overtime as required, including responding to after-hours service calls and during facilities emergencies. Commitment to being present during authorized closings due to inclement weather or other reasons, as essential personnel.
o Computer Skills: Working knowledge of computers and proficiency in programs such as Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
o Professional Experience: Journeyman level experience or licensure in HVAC and Refrigeration with ability to acquire DPOR Master's License within a year of employment.
o Software Proficiency: Successful experience with work order system software, AiM by AssetWORKS, or similar.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm
Some overtime required and responds to after hour service calls in a team, and work when scheduled or in emergency situations.
Must be willing to work weekend shift occasionally or on a rotating shift.

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as a driving check with a safe driving record.
