Work modality: Hybrid remote and on-campus during intensive learning weeks and other university activities as required.

Core Functions:

  • Communicates news and current information among all concerned stakeholders (e.g., the academic institution, program faculty and staff, advisory committee, students, etc.) to maintain current knowledge of the educational program and report any changes affecting clinical practice and education.
  • Provide ongoing communication with constituents, including:
    1. Philosophy of the academic program
    2. Requirements of program curriculum for syllabus, and learning objectives required for the program and individual courses
    3. Policy and procedures of the program, including assuring the review, revision, and maintenance of the policy and procedures manual, the student handbook, and the clinical education handbook
    4. Dissemination of appropriate student-related information
    5. Collection and analysis of feedback from all constituents (e.g., university administration/personnel and other departments, program faculty, adjunct and clinical education faculty, students, graduates, employers, advisory committee members, and the public)
  • Ensure the regular evaluation of program faculty in areas of teaching, scholarly activity, service, administration, leadership, and other roles
  • Model and promote the professional behavior expected by the program
  • Understand and have experience with curriculum content, design, and evaluation
  • Implement proven, practical interpersonal and conflict-management skills
  • Demonstrate negotiation and advocacy skills (relative to planning, budgeting, funding, program faculty status, program status, employment and termination, space, and appropriate academic and professional benefits)
  • Oversees appropriate documentation from all aspects of the program.
  • Actively engage core faculty education planning, implementation, and assessment.
  • Oversee, facilitate, and assess the performance, professional development, and other faculty activities, including scholarship, service, and teaching.
  • Facilitate quality learning experiences for students. Students' performance, in cooperation with other faculty, is used to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum.
  • Provides vision for occupational therapy professional education.
  • Educate students with the best academic faculty.
  • Foster learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of sound patient/client management, ethical and professional behavior, and currency with practice.

Background/Expertise:

  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapist professional program or deemed equivalent non-accredited program.
  • Minimum earned post-professional doctoral degree (OTD minimum, PhD, ScD, EdD preferred).
  • Must hold current licensure or be eligible for licensure in the state of Utah
  • Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist is required
  • A minimum of three (3) years of full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postbaccalaureate level is required.
  • Must have clinical and teaching experience in pediatrics.
  • Currently active in clinical practice preferred.
  • Experience with instructional delivery via face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments.
  • Design and conduct independent and/or collaborative.
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels (preferred).
