This job is responsible for strategic planning, direction, leadership, contract management, budget development and overall accountability for the strategic sourcing function at the company. Manages a portion of the organization’s contract portfolio and contract workflow to ensure contracts are secured with the lowest prices for clinically appropriate items and done so in a timely manner; assists with maintaining high contract compliance and manages utilization of contracts when appropriate; and manages a Physician Preference Item (PPI) book of business of over $50 million as well as other contracts. This job makes decisions that could seriously affect quality, cost and clinical appropriateness as it relates to supplies, equipment and services; drives cost reduction initiatives throughout the system by serving as a project manager and advisor to clinical and non-clinical areas; drives organization-wide product change and serves as an internal advocate of standardization/utilization initiatives; ensures staff supports Pursuit of Value (POV) initiatives; and assists with coordination of new product introduction and overall product change initiatives on behalf of end users.

Education

Required - Bachelor’s degree

Preferred - Master’s degree

Work Experience Required - 5 years experience in Purchasing in healthcare or PPI Industry experience including 5 years experience in contract management.

Preferred - 10 years management level experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.

Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.

Knowledge of materials management information systems.

Strong analytical skills.

Strong professional and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Physician Preference Products and strong negotiating skills.

Organizational skills necessary in order to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

Skills to work cordially and effectively with physicians, executives and clinicians to present factual data and drive supply utilization improvements.

Self-directed including the ability to manage major projects with minimum supervision.

Good time management skills.

Good judgment skills in handling difficult situations.

Job Duties
