Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant experience in editorial acquisitions. Proven track record in acquiring scholarly, text, and trade titles. Demonstrated experience setting editorial strategy and building list areas. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of academic research and publishing standards, including the peer review process. Knowledge of contracts and copyright. Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills to identify, develop, and evaluate publishing areas and book concepts. Demonstrated ability to build a network of authors and advisors, with preference given for networks in the list areas. Excellent written communication and conceptual editing skills. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Self-motivation and ability to self-manage in remote situations. Adaptability and flexibility in changing environments. Capacity to synthesize materials and communicate information in a manner easily understood. Experience with managing projects to specifications and to meet expected deadlines. Ability to perform detailed work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The University Press of Colorado is actively committed to maintaining a culture of diversity, inclusion, equity, and respect. We seek applicants who, like the Press, are interested in building upon and contributing to a larger community that values a culture of learning, appreciation, and diverse identities, lives, and experiences. UPC embraces flexibility above perfectionism, honors caretaking and individual needs, and consistently values a work-life balance. We will consider candidates without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, ability, age, or veteran status. Compensation and Benefits: Pay Range: $70,000–$80,000, based on qualifications and experience. Benefits include: health insurance, sick leave, PTO, 403(b) retirement plan. TO APPLY: Individuals interested in this position should provide a cover letter and resume to Amy Morse (amy@jackfarrell.com) of Jack Farrell & Associates. The cover letter should be 1–2 pages and describe: (1) why you are interested, and (2) how you are qualified. JO 202411052
