Senior Scientist, Discovery Chemistry - MGD

Monte Rosa Therapeutics, Boston, Massachusetts, us, 02298

Overview Monte Rosa Therapeutics (MRT) seeks to recruit an enthusiastic, creative and highly talented medicinal chemist who is eager to discover molecular glue degraders (MGDs) that eliminate disease-causing proteins previously thought undruggable. This position plays a key role in contributing to the development of our growing portfolio and will have a crucial impact at the forefront of drug discovery. The successful candidate should have a strong interest in early-stage drug discovery, prior experience in HTS data analysis, hit follow-up as well as utilizing state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry knowledge up to the Lead Identification phase. Responsibilities

Analyze High Throughput Screening (HTS) output with the goal of identifying promising starting points for hit generation chemistry from our growing MGD library. Serve as chemistry project lead against multiple early-stage projects. Develop hit follow-up and lead generation strategy for discovery targets in collaboration with discovery scientists. Create structure activity relationship driven hypotheses for follow-up experiments to probe target engagement in hit validation. Provide tool compounds and contribute to target validation efforts as a member of a cross-functional discovery team. Provide chemistry progressability assessments for early targets. Familiarity with key concepts and optimization strategies in medicinal chemistry including a clear understanding of ADME properties. Efficient and timely execution of compound syntheses through our CRO network, by devising efficient synthetic routes. Collaborate with external research partners. Communicate scientific findings and project updates to senior leadership and governance. Summarize and publish findings in manuscripts and patents when appropriate. Qualifications

PhD in synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry or equivalent experience with a history of applicable publications in small molecule drug discovery. 4 to 8 years of relevant professional experience in hit and lead generation chemistry. Deep experience of High Throughput Screening analysis and follow-up. Familiarity with early stages of pre-clinical research in drug discovery. High level of proficiency with databases, data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. Spotfire, D360, CDD, Maestro, Pymol). Proficiency in complex molecule synthesis and/or synthetic method development experience. Needs to be highly effective in cross-functional and cross-site teams. Experience of collaborating with CROs is essential. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
