The selected candidate will be an employee of Public Health Solutions, a nonprofit organization which is the fiscal and administrative manager of the grant, but the work will be supervised by DOHMH. This is a grant-funded position scheduled to end in November 2027.

Program and Job Description

This position is within the Office of Strategic Operations and Performance Management (SOPM) in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This office supports the overarching strategies of DOHMH, to foster organizational alignment with those strategies, and to supplement divisional capacity as needed. This office also coordinates strategic data projects related to agency operations and analyses for priority Agency initiatives. The Strategic Data Initiatives (SDI) Unit — made up of 7 staff [1 Senior Director, 1 Director, 2 Data Scientists, 1 Salesforce Developer & 2 Senior Salesforce Business Analysts] — is focused on leveraging technology and data products to meet the Agency’s goals more efficiently.

Under the direction of the Director of Informatics, the Senior Business Analyst (Salesforce) will support the COO’s Salesforce org which houses several agency priority applications. The system’s primary application is the agency’s partner management system (Partners Connect) which stores the Agency’s partner facing outreach and engagement data. The other application(s) involve performance management systems to facilitate real-time and ad-hoc reporting for the agency’s operational indicators.

This role will coordinate with agency stakeholders to better understand public health programs and map those processes to the current Salesforce environment. Additionally, the Senior Business Analyst (Salesforce) will serve as liaison between internal programmatic staff to build out new use cases and provide technical assistance as needed. These systems often involve rapid development, deployment, and support for new high priority initiatives. This person will need to collaborate with developers, analysts, and users to maintain the system and build additional modules as needed.

At least 4 years of experience as a Salesforce administrator or analyst is required.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Coordinate across the Agency to help support the implementation of Salesforce for external engagement or performance management systems.
  • Work with program stakeholders to develop specific and measurable programmatic data indicators for their new use-cases.
  • Configure Salesforce in the sandbox including but not limited to flows, objects, fields, layouts, and community sites.
  • Serve as one of the Salesforce administrators.
  • Conduct research to identify and recommend improvements to streamline processes and enhance system functionality.
  • Provide technical assistance to business units including developing reports, dashboards, and appropriately identify requirements for new technology builds.
  • Quickly learn the current Salesforce environment and work with new business units to adapt Salesforce usage in their current workflows.
  • Lead discussions and meetings with stakeholders providing guidance, sharing best practices, and influencing process decision-making when necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Salesforce with other program processes and/or systems, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation.
  • Contribute to the processing, cleaning, and preparing of data for analysis and reporting.
  • Develop data management procedures and protocol (e.g., data dictionaries, business rules) for monitor data quality, identify issues, and work with program staff to resolve.
  • As needed, create and present reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Conduct a systems analysis for new programs and map the results of those analysis to the existing infrastructure.
  • Work with public health experts, documenting workflows and translating those workflows in training materials and/or system documentation.
  • Communicate with complex business workflows and requirements into a project plan.
  • Communicates complex technical and data information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of experience as a Salesforce administrator or analyst is required.
  • The ideal candidate for this position must be a pro-active and self-motivated individual with the ability to work in teams and in a highly dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and timelines.
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to manage and report complex information.
  • Experience with data collection, analysis and interpretation.
  • Desire to grow professionally, develop new skills and willingness to work outside of comfort zone.
  • Experience working with the public health sector and coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in fast-paced environment with hard deadlines.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities, along with a demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice involved persons, etc.).

  • Salary: 103,000 - $103,000

Additional Information:

  • This is a temporary grant-funded position ending in November 2027.
  • This individual must reside in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) by their confirmed start date.
  • Preference may be given to individuals residing in New York City (5 boroughs) or surrounding New York State counties.
  • This individual will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies.
