Director, Public Funding

As our Director, Public Funding, you will build relationships with public funders (primarily local and state governments) aligned with College Track sites to increase awareness within those institutions and build support for College Track's mission to equip students confronting systemic barriers to earn a bachelor's degree in pursuit of a life of opportunity, choice, purpose, and power. The candidate will also be a strategic internal partner to Program, Finance, and leadership teams to ensure cross-department communication, and compliance and stewardship of public funds within the organization.

Reporting to, and in partnership with, the Vice President of Philanthropy, the inaugural Director of Public Funding will bring public sector funding expertise to the team to build a portfolio of funders that complement College Track's philanthropy work. The candidate will work closely with the Philanthropy Operations, Finance, and Program teams to execute proposals and track deliverables and reports. Starting in FY26 (approximately July of 2025) the Director will oversee a Manager of Public Funding who will provide support to an expanding pipeline of active funding initiatives.

You have a Bachelor's Degree.

You have familiarity with the government and institutional funding landscape, preferably in secondary and postsecondary education.

You have the ability to maintain positive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders working in a non-adversarial, professional, and diplomatic manner.

You have solid writing, editing, and oral communication skills including excellent public speaking and presentation skills with demonstrated experience conveying complex concepts in a clear, persuasive, and succinct manner.

You have familiarity with program budgets and the principles of program design, implementation, and evaluation.

You have experience developing, directing, and managing multiple projects and budgets and implementing strategic program goals.

This position is full-time, exempt, with a full compensation range of $109,680-$164,520 (LA, DC, and Oakland), $104,196 - $156,294 (Sac and NOLA), $98,712- $148,068 (Colorado) with the exact compensation depending on experience. New staff are rarely brought in at the top of the range to ensure internal equity while leaving room for salary growth during an employee's time at College Track.
