A successful candidate in this position will serve as a Foreign Affairs Specialist, within the Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (NA-20), Office of Nonproliferation and Arms Control (NA-24), Office of Nonproliferation Policy (NA-244) in Washington, DC, which develops and implements programs, strategies, and policies to address enduring and emerging nonproliferation challenges and opportunities.
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e., EN-00 or GS-11. Specialized experience for this position is defined as
Experience applying export control laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; building relationships with foreign governments and counterparts (e.g., governments, nongovernmental organizations, or commercial entities) and/or with U.S. entities with foreign interests (e.g., U.S. Federal organizations that work on foreign policy, U.S. industry working with foreign governments, etc.); developing or implementing foreign policy; and leading negotiations with foreign counterparts.
Examples of Specialized Experience: Any experience in the area of exports, imports, and/or the licensing of proliferation-sensitive technologies (e.g. 10 CFR Part 810), materials, and equipment. Any experience representing the U.S. Government on delegations that meet with foreign counterparts, governments, international organizations, or U.S. companies.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
