About the Role The VP of Data Strategy will be responsible for driving the company’s data strategy, ensuring high-quality, actionable insights that align with business goals. This role involves overseeing the architecture, development, and operations of a scalable data platform, while ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards. The VP will lead and mentor a team of engineers and analysts, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Additionally, they will promote a data-driven culture, encouraging the use of analytics for impactful decision-making and value creation across the organization. Strong collaboration with executive and operations leadership is essential to align data initiatives with broader company objectives. Reporting directly to the CTO, this role is critical in shaping and executing SSA Group and its family of companies’ data strategy. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and promote an actionable data strategy that enables high-quality data and impactful analytics. Collaborate with executive leadership to align analytics roadmap with business goals and objectives. Oversee the design and architecture, development, and operations of scalable, reliable, and robust data platform. Manage associated data pipelines, models, and user-facing dashboards, reports, and analytics. Implement processes and associated technologies to ensure data integrity, quality, accessibility, and protection. Establish policies for data stewardship and accountability across the organization. Ensure the data platforms comply with industry standards and regulations. Implement and maintain best practices for data security and privacy. Build, manage, and mentor a team of engineers and analysts. Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment. Foster a data-driven culture, promoting the use of analytics to drive value in decision-making processes. Facilitate the development of the skills and capabilities that will enable the organization to understand and leverage analytics. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in data & analytics, with 5+ years leading teams. Established track record of delivering analytics solutions that drive impact. Strong communication, collaboration and presentation skills. Strong business acumen and strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex data use cases into an actionable roadmap. Experience with cloud-based data platforms on Azure, Fabric, GCP, or AWS. Experience with BI tools such as Power BI (Power Platform), Looker, or Tableau. Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL and Python. Experience with columnar databases such as Snowflake, OneLake, BigQuery, or Redshift. Familiarity with data governance and management frameworks and technologies. Experience working in a retail and consumer goods industry. Strong capability to inspire, mentor, and manage a team of data professionals. Expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, robust, and secure data platforms. Skilled at interpreting complex data to derive actionable insights that drive business outcomes. Proficiency in establishing data stewardship, quality, security, and compliance policies. Effective in conveying complex ideas and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Adept at identifying challenges and implementing data solutions that enhance performance and outcomes. Strong knowledge of data management tools, analytics technologies, and data security best practices. Ability to collaborate effectively with executive teams, aligning data strategies with organizational objectives. Embracing new technologies and methodologies to keep the organization’s data strategy competitive and adaptive. Additional Information This is a senior-level executive role that will have a small team of individual contributors and will be expected to also perform as an individual contributor until such time the team can sustain the group’s activities on their own. The role offers the possibility of remote or hybrid work arrangements. Compensation and Benefits For this VP of Data Strategy position reporting directly to the CTO, the proposed salary range is between $160,000 to $200,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
