Preferred for this position dog experience, overnight work experience, possible security experienced.

 

Job Summary

The Overnight Supervisor is a supervisory position that handles the overnight management responsibilities of the dog day-care operations, overall welfare of the dogs staying after hours from day care and overnight for boarding. The Overnight Supervisor is responsible for supervision of the day-care, boarding, bathing, ACC and ADW operations throughout their shift. Additionally, they are responsible for providing feedback on performance to ensure proper procedures are followed, working under the direction of the Kennel Supervisor.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Coordinate with the Kennel Supervisor to ensure needed staff are assigned to your shift for the next day.

·       Coordinate and plan nightly operation of tasks to ensure proper and safe care of all animals in accordance with company policies and procedures. See list of specific tasks for each specialty detailed at end of this job description.

·       Lead by example and assign self to all functions on a regular basis.

·       Provide positive relevant feedback & performance improvement suggestions to existing staff and new staff make training adjustments as needed.

·       Review dog profiles with staff assigned to supervise them & point out any areas of concern.

·       Work with management to communicate, explain and train on procedures.

·       Assist in creating a spirit of teamwork by treating all staff equally, instructing in a respectful manner & showing appreciation for work well done & extra efforts.

·       Complete written memo for staff praises and outstanding performance above & beyond expected job duties and submit to management and encourages growth; fosters quality focus in others; continually works to improve supervisory skills.

·       Monitor and document illness and injury according to policy.

·       Monitor and document feeding reports according to policy.

·       Make decisions regarding Veterinary visits.

·       Communicate issues and concerns with daytime Shift leader at shift pick up and shift transfer to ensure timely owner conversations and continuity of care.

·       Gather and transfer all relevant information on boarding dogs with the Shift Leader/Kennel Supervisor/Front of House Supervisor (whichever SL/Kennel Supervisor/FOH Supervisor is available).

·       Oversee nightly operations of facility to ensure safety and quality of care of all pets in all areas (serve as back-up to other section coordinators in their absence). Review reports to ensure pets are eating and eliminating properly.

·       Medicate dogs as required following the facility medication schedules or a time sensitive medication schedule.

·       Maintains reports and documentation such as health reports, behaviors reports, staff reports, icon assignments special play or housing requirements, transition lists as well as referrals to the training department as required by established policies and protocols.

·       Evaluate dog behavior’s and assign play groups appropriately while meeting BFFE expectations in handler to dog ratio without compromising safety.

·       Monitor facility for needed repairs and equipment – communicate with Kennel Supervisor of needs.

·       Monitor facility for emergencies and utilize Red Book and Chain of Command to communicate emergencies.

·       Communicate Inventory needs with Kennel Supervisor.

·       Oversee facility cleanliness/disinfecting execution in line with BFFE procedures and are achieved nightly.

·       Maintain an excellent professional relationship with the pet parents.

·       Provide input to management on procedures in area of responsibility. Recommend changes, additions, or deletions to ensure proper care and effective operations.

·       Complete Overnight shift report and check list

·       Complete all health and behavioral reports and ensure the Front Desk Associate/Front of House Supervisor is communicating specifics to pet parents.

·       Set up for change of shift (tagging stations, maintenance needs, inventory, staff requirements)

·       Ensure all other work forms are completed and maintained for duties assigned.

·       Maintain excellent employee client relationships verbally, in person, and through written documentation.

·       Ensure physical counts of dogs’ match counts in our software at scheduled intervals throughout the night and document appropriately.

·       Other duties that are assigned.

Essential Functions

·       Ability to use a PC, mobile device, and/or other electronics with our BFFE software systems.

·       Perform duties at multiple workstations (e.g., front desk, sales, handling, etc.)

·       Complete all resort housekeeping functions (i.e., dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, cleaning kennels, sanitizing food bowls etc.).

·       Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

·       High energy, positive attitude, and excellent customer service skills.

·       Interact productively with co-workers and function well in a team environment.

·       Thorough understanding of company policies and practices.

·       Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation; must be able to travel and assist with transporting dogs, when necessary, between locations or to the veterinarian.


Availability

·       Work weekends

·       Holidays are mandatory.

·       Must be available with reliable transportation to work Sunday -Saturday 5:30PM – 6:30AM seven days a week.

·       Must be flexible regarding shifts available.

·       Full time


Physical/Mental Job Requirements

·       Must be able to walk and be inside/outside much of the night.

·       Able to lift 50-60 pounds repetitively daily.

·       Work with cleaning chemicals safely.

·       Must be able to move easily and quickly on a steeply graded hill over tiers of varying heights = max tier height = 3 feet (Joppa Location only)

·       Must be able to use hands and lifting techniques to lift dogs from crates of varying levels.

·       Must be able to use hands to write and notate client records.

·       Must be able to verbally communicate with dogs and humans.

·      Mop, shovel, broom, and other tools to complete job requirements.

·       Must be able to work rotating shifts which may vary from week to week.

Work Environment

·       While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is potentially exposed to outside weather conditions for approximately 6+ hours per day year-round. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in the form of ear plugs is available.

 


Minimum Requirements

·       High School Graduate or GED

·       Genuine care and concern for caring for dogs of all sizes and needs.

·       6 months of professional dog care experience is preferred.

·       1-2 years of customer service experience.
