Responsibilities The

Research Administration Manager I

(RAM I) will be responsible for the successful management of fiscal, administrative, and regulatory operations of multiple research portfolios in the Human Biology Division (HB). The RAM I will also serve as a team leader, mentoring and training peers and junior colleagues as needed by Division leadership.

A strong performer in this position will ensure and be responsible for:

Collaborating with Principal Investigators (PIs), Division leadership, and other departments as needed on administrative and operational planning for assigned research labs.

Regulatory and compliance requirements for the full life cycle of federal and non-federal research funding in accordance with sponsor and institutional policies.

Implementation of accurate human resources processes, tasks, and best practices.

Skilled financial planning & analysis of complex budget scenarios.

Mentoring and training of team members of all experience levels.

Navigating various complex administrative and financial systems.

Partnering with Division and Fred Hutch Leadership to continuously identify broader operational issues and areas of improvement to ensure optimum conduct of research studies.

Other duties as required.

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, or related field or equivalent experience.

Minimum of five years of progressive experience in research administration including federal grants and contract administration experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

At least three years of experience managing direct reports and conducting performance appraisals.

Strong skills mentoring peers as well as working effectively with a variety of colleagues.

Ability to manage complex activities in a research setting including finances, regulatory oversight, and administration.

Experience submitting and managing complex NIH awards (e.g., SPORE and P01 grants) and contracts.

Experience with business development and industry-sponsored contracts.

Experience with grant and contract regulatory agencies and reviewing IRB and IACUC documents.

Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple and competing demands.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff in a variety of roles.

Highly organized with the ability to problem-solve and process information quickly with a high attention to detail.

Advanced skills in Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Excel (ability to use pivot tables), and Outlook.

Demonstrated ability to work successfully as part of a diverse team with a commitment to equity and inclusion.

Experience working in a research organization, a university/medical school setting, or other complex non-profit organization.

Experience supporting laboratory-based researchers and trainees around various aspects of lab operations such as procurement, scientific equipment maintenance, and space modifications.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $94,702 to $149,656, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Relocation assistance will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
