This job is physically active and requires frequent bending and standing for long periods of time. It requires routine lifting and restraining animals. Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
Schedule
Full Time Overnight
Shifts between 10pm - 6am 7 days a week.

Summary
The successful candidate will be able to assist doctors with patients in the Emergency and ICU departments of Mount Laurel Animal Hospital which is a large fast-paced environment comprised of a team of dedicated individuals. The role of the ICU technician includes but is not limited to:
- Perform treatments on hospitalized patients including the administration of medications by various routes
- Obtain vitals, blood pressure, ECG, and other monitoring parameters
- Monitor hydration status, administering CRI's, setting up IV fluids with multiple lines, etc.
- Phlebotomy and basic knowledge of hematology and "normals"
- Basic knowledge of anesthetic drugs, protocols, and anesthesia monitoring
- Conduct medical record keeping and client communication (particularly in regard to patient updates)
- Knowledge of common medications
- Place intravenous catheters, central line placement and PICC line placement and care
- Transfusion therapy including blood typing and cross matching
- Feeding tube care and maintenance
- Placement of male urinary catheters
- Perform CPCR as needed
- Apply bandages/splints regularly
- Discharge patients
- Comfortable with handling and providing nursing care of exotics including SQ/IM/IV injections.
- Proper medical record keeping and invoicing.
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience with advanced in-patient care.
- CVT or VTS preferred
- Work experience in a fast-paced, multi-veterinarian hospital, emergency/referral practice or hospital.
Technical Abilities and Skills
- Knowledge of normal patient vitals for awake, sedated, and anesthetized patients
- Accuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs
- Comprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring is required
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to building relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required
- Knowledge and care with equipment maintenance, cleaning, sterility, and troubleshooting; willingness to read equipment manuals and consult with vendors if repair/upgrades needed
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected
