Overview:
The Critical Operations Technician(s) (COT) are Prime Data Center’s front line responders for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switchboards/switchgears, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.
The COT maintains and follows the processes that maximize customer uptime in the most cost-effective way. Ensures that data center problems are identified and repaired quickly, that contractors deliver quality services, and that internal customer demands are met.
Reports to: Critical Facilities Manager
Location: Onsite in data center located in Dallas, TX
Available Shifts/Schedules:
- Night Technician: 10pm-10am, Rotating days (1 opening)
Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
Troubleshoot of facility events within internal SLAs.
Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
Work a 12-hour shift (3 and 4 day work weeks days or nights)
Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
Perform BMS (Building Management System) Facility monitoring, logging, reporting, and trending of critical information.
Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory
Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies
Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities
Basic Qualifications:
Two or more years of technical training, military training, or workplace equivalency
Background in areas of IT, electrical, and/or mechanical
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of work experience in data center environment or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
Possess an understanding of the mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems used in a data center environment including, but not limited to the following: electrical distribution and layout, Transformers, PLC’s, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, STS’, ATS’ PDU’s, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAH’s, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems
Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and compliance issues as well as building codes in regard to fire life safety
Current knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e., lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA, and state regulations)

Regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more
Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance
