Position Overview

The leader of the UCSF Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) directs a department that provides broad organization-wide services and frameworks with significant campus-wide and enterprise-wide impact. The EPMO’s services encompass the planning and implementation of a wide spectrum of strategic, organizational, and operational initiatives designed to transform and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of UCSF’s operations. The EPMO leader makes decisions on organizational consulting matters and ensures achievement of objectives.

The EPMO leader is viewed as an expert in business transformation, programmatic planning and execution, and is regularly called upon to provide services to support initiatives related to strategic planning, business systems planning and implementation, process improvement, and organizational restructuring. The EPMO leader uses their deep expertise to influence multiple stakeholders at all levels to support and participate in the various business transformation initiatives underway at UCSF.

The EPMO leader serves as a member of the FAS Executive Team (the Senior Vice Chancellor’s leadership team) and manages a staff of approximately 15 department employees, overseeing a portfolio of dozens of projects annually. Responsibilities include talent management, financial management, and governance of projects and programs managed by the EPMO.

Department Description

The UCSF Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) is an internal business advisory unit of skilled professionals who provide consulting services to the UCSF campus. The EPMO prides itself on helping managers implement both enterprise-wide and unit-specific operational initiatives.

EPMO Service Offerings

Strategic Alignment:

Supports broad business transformation and enterprise and function-level strategic planning and deployment.

Portfolio Control:

Establishes capability and infrastructure to support and govern a cohesive project environment.

Project Oversight:

Achieve project deliverables and objectives for cost, schedule, and resource utilization.

Required Qualifications

12-15+ years of relevant progressive experience.

Experience with ERP system development/implementation.

Advanced business operations/financial knowledge and experience.

Advanced knowledge of organizational consulting in a PMO or consulting environment.

Advanced knowledge of strategy development and deployment, systems planning, and change management.

Advanced project management skills.

Excellent skills to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations.

Experience developing and managing a portfolio of large, complex programs.

Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills.

Education: Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience/training.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters in business administration or equivalent.
