Overview:

The Overnight Parking Garage Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safe and secure overnight operation of parking facilities. Key responsibilities include monitoring the premises, assisting customers with parking needs, enforcing parking regulations, and addressing any security or safety concerns that may arise during the night shift. The attendant is also responsible for keeping accurate records of vehicles entering and exiting the parking facility, providing excellent customer service, and coordinating with other staff or authorities when necessary. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently during the night hours. Overall, the Overnight Parking Attendant plays a crucial role in maintaining a smooth and secure parking environment for both customers and the facility.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $15.00.

Benefits for PT roles: 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching. Also, OVG provides part-time, seasonal, and internship employees with one hour of accrued paid leave per 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year.

This position will remain open until October 31, 2024



Responsibilities:

Maintenance

  • Safely use cleaning chemicals and follow Global harmonization guidelines.
  • Janitorial services/office cleaning, including but not limited to, dusting, glass cleaning, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, mopping, emptying trash/recycling receptacles and paper restocking.
  • Clean corridors, lobbies, stairways, elevators and lounges.
  • Organize and restock supplies at the end of the shift.
  • Follow all company safety and security procedures.
  • Report any and all maintenance issues, damages, safety hazards, discrepancies or concerns to your supervisor.

SECURITY

  • Perform crowd management and control techniques; Assist with police and fire rescue.
  • Comprehend, communicate clear instructions and carry out event needs.
  • Assist in general duties of public safety, theft deterrence and loss prevention.
  • Monitor fire safety equipment; surveillance equipment; card access equipment.
  • Ability to work security check-points and other posts plus traffic assistance.
  • Regular patrolling of the Parking Garage on foot or in a vehicle.

PARKING

  • Parking Garage inspection of machines prior to the tour as assigned by the manager.
  • Troubleshoot issues with parking access system and provide corrective action.
  • Assist guests with any issues during the ingress and/or egress.
  • Ability and knowledge to explain our Parking rates & procedures.
  • Must be able to perform cashier duties for exiting vehicles.
  • Assist guests on the use of ticket machines.
  • Track and report any and all issues with machines.

OTHER

  • Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 40lbs).
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Work in accordance with the standard operating procedures of the facility.
  • Understand the organization and operation of convention center and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Practice a high level of customer service.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in English.
  • Other duties as assigned.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to multi-task under time limits and with moderate to high pressure situations. Position requires constant attention to details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time; Position also requires frequent use of interpersonal skills with staff including verbal and written instructions. Employee must be able to openly communicate with all staff. This position requires employee to frequently work both independently and as part of a team for variety of tasks.

Physical demands:

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee frequently lifts and moves facility equipment, supplies and/or tools. Employee will constantly move about inside and outside various areas of the facility before/during/after events; position will require employee to frequently bend, stoop, or crouch in order to set-up or clean in various areas of the building and grounds. Employee will as needed operate various machines in cleaning, equipment for maintenance of the garage and surrounding area; employee will constantly communicate via radio and in-person with staff to exchange accurate information. Employee may frequently be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Work environment:

  • The duties of this position are performed primarily indoors and but also outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and when not operating equipment and moderate to loud during event days when equipment is in operation


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Customer service focused.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule specifically including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to function in fast paced, high pressure environment.
  • Experience in heavy public contact.
  • Possess superior interpersonal and communication skills with all staff, tenants and clients.
