Convenience Store General Manager

Growing convenience store chain is seeking a qualified individual to lead a new store in Hobbs, NM. The General Manager reports directly to the Operations Director and/or Vice President of the company, and will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Swift Stop store's operations, including fuel, grocery, beverage, prepared food, and other profit areas. The GM will also be responsible for maintaining and protecting the store's assets, maintaining company-mandated levels of cleanliness and customer service, and producing expected sales and revenue generation. The GM will recruit, hire, train and lead a top-notch team dedicated to making Swift Stop the market leader. The position is salaried and exempt, with work hours dictated by the responsibilities inherent to the job. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Store Administration
Administer operations of entire store and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
Accurately handle company and customer funds.
Maintain accurate inventories.
Supervise and determine the amount, number and type of goods sold.
Participate and give direction in the stocking of merchandise.
Receive shipments, unpack merchandise, sort products; process and return merchandise when the need arises.
Maximize capacity of sales fixtures, models, and visual presentations.
Ensure security of the store by implementing security systems and measures, including coordination with local law enforcement if necessary.
Ensure that all store equipment stays in good working order, and request repairs from equipment vendors and store ownership as needed.
Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards.
Maintain all aspects of facility to adhere to branded program requirements.
Report on buying trends, customer needs, etc.
Develop strategies to raise customers' purchase amounts, increase store traffic, and optimize profitability.
Ensure the enforcement of health, safety and security rules.
Serve as the connection between store ownership and staff, and between store ownership and customers.
Interact with construction workers, network systems, security, and other service providers and vendors as necessary.
Monitor and supervise the activities of the store and kitchen departments, and examine the operations of departments in relation to one another.
Personnel
Direct store operations through effective management, scheduling, and assigning of employee tasks and duties, with prompt follow-up to ensure accountability and completion of required tasks. Assign employees to special duties as required.
Recruit, hire, and train staff of more than 10 individuals in two departments: store customer service consisting of an assistant manager, shift leaders, and cashiers; and food service consisting of a deli manager, shift leaders, and deli food preparers.
Serve as an example of behavior and high performance to store employees.
Plan, monitor, and appraise employee job performance; coach, counsel, and discipline employees as necessary.
Plan and prepare work schedules for employees; report employee illnesses and vacation requests to the corporate office in a timely manner.
Submit payroll reports and ensure accurate time clock record keeping.
Conduct personnel performance reviews to assess training needs and build career paths within the corporation.
Recommend high-performing employees for special remuneration and promotion.
Develop and execute programs that motivate staff to perform at high levels.
Customer Service
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent customer service.
Deal with all issues that arise from staff or customers (complaints, grievances, etc.).
Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with customers and other persons in a position to understand the buying demands of customers.
STORE MANAGER JOB REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of five (5) years management experience in a convenience store or similar retail environment.
High school degree or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or related field preferred but relevant experience may be substituted.
Ability to self-motivate, problem solve, and work with minimal supervision.
Powerful leadership skills and business orientation.

Expertise and experience in sales operations.

Proficiency with computer, scanner, and office equipment.

Ability to obtain all certifications necessary and required to handle and sell tobacco, fuel, and food service items.
Must have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays when necessary. Position is salaried and exempt from overtime regulations.
Must have reliable transportation and the ability to handle situations 24 hours a day.
Position requires bending, standing, walking, and repetitive use of hands and arms.
Must have the ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including but not limited to lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, pulling items weighing up to 100 pounds, bending, squatting, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, and reaching.
Position requires the ability to handle exposure to food ingredients and cleaning chemicals on a routine basis.
Must be able to handle frequent interruptions while simultaneously managing multiple projects.
Drug screening may be required.
Must pass a background check.
