Title: Product Development Scientist – Emulsion Polymerization

Description

The Chatham Group, a dynamic talent acquisition firm focused on the science and technology-based industries, is the preferred recruiting partner of a leading global manufacturer, marketer and distributor of chemical auxiliaries and specialties. The Interpolymer division is headquartered in Louisville KY where the company produces emulsion polymers for floor coatings, personal care, and paints and coatings markets. In support of the company's growth initiatives, The Chatham Group is recruiting for an experienced scientist to support growth through the design and development of new products and improvements to our designs and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing new products using emulsion and solution polymerization methods.
  • Translating customer needs into product solutions.
  • Applying a strong understanding of structure/property relationships to achieve design goals.
  • Using your emulsion polymerization expertise, advance our ability to produce high performance products in our target market segments.
  • Collaborating across functions to meet project goals and deliver new products.
  • Driving projects to success using stage gate project management processes
  • Serving as a safety steward in the laboratory and the site.
  • Serving as a technical resource at the site and across our polymer platform.
  • Being a problem solver in support of projects and in Root Cause Analysis of Incidents.
  • Conducting and documenting technical work in accordance with good laboratory practices.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Degree in Chemistry or Polymer Science; PhD preferred.
  • 5 + years' experience in polymer synthesis and product development
  • 3+ years' experience in emulsion polymerization strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success commercializing innovative new products.
  • Expertise in problem solving both in the lab and in support of manufacturing.
