ABOUT THE POSITION
The Concrete Product Manager is responsible for the product's development, marketing, and sales throughout its lifecycle. This role ensures that the product meets quality standards and aligns with customer needs.
Key Deliverables
  • Identify trends (technological, regulatory, etc.) and opportunities for new or improved product features and functions.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for the concrete product roadmap.
  • Lead timely roadmap execution with the cross-functional Product Management Team (PMT).
  • Achieve budgeted growth targets for the concrete product line through innovation (R&D, New Product Development, Continuous Improvement, and Engineer-to-Order Projects).
Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret market data, including competitor information on similar products.
  • Perform detailed competitive analyses to assess how Astec’s product features and benefits compare to competitors.
  • Develop and maintain the concrete product roadmap, ensuring timely execution.
  • Lead PMT meetings to keep roadmap projects on track and facilitate accountability among the cross-functional group.
  • Lead New Product Development (NPD) projects from inception through completion for the concrete product family.
  • Develop business cases (payback period, ROI, etc.) for new products and present them to senior and executive management for approval.
  • Facilitate product launches and develop marketing plans for new products.
  • Support inventory turnover and product availability by recommending inventory levels and production schedules.
  • Oversee product and component rationalization, working closely with the PMT to maintain a portfolio of industry-leading products.
  • Create and maintain product line presentations, including product overviews, market share data, profitability, Features & Benefits, and the innovation roadmap.
  • Develop and present product training materials and sales tools.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex sales quotes.
  • Manage the product line price book for both standard and custom products.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.
  • Concrete industry experience and knowledge of batch plant controls/telematics preferred.
  • High energy and motivation with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%).
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in writing reports, presentations, and business correspondence.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to respond to inquiries from customers, managers, associates, clients, and the public.
