Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Senior Product Manager for our PVC Pipe & Conduit Strategic Business Unit. You will be responsible for managing the PVC electrical portfolio including competitive analysis, why we have the products we have, new product development, managing sales tools, marketing communication and promotion, and field sales support. This position is also responsible for being the fittings “market expert” within the business. This includes managing pricing and sales growth as well as capacity improvements in conjunction with operations.
The Senior Product Manager’s primary focus is on developing/improving and marketing products including:
- Managing the product throughout the product lifecycle
- Developing and maintaining roadmaps
- Gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements
- Defining the product vision
- Developing and implementing channel strategies
- Analyzing the competitive environment, tracking market share including Mekko charts
- Gathering VOC to develop new products, improve service and understand changing customer needs
- Developing marketing tools and campaigns to promote new products and existing products to new markets
- Manage the stage gate process for new products
- Understand vertical markets (and all end use markets) and develop strategies with the commercial team to target specific markets
- Working closely with engineering to deliver an end-user driven innovative product portfolio
- Use Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing tools to improve the performance of our products
- Assist with delivering technical expertise to customers and end users installing and using our products.
- Lead and monitor pricing and sales strategies around the PVC fittings portfolio.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor of Science required with a preference for a degree in Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience as a Product Manager or Product Marketing Manager, preferably with experience in the PVC pipe market or the fittings market
- Demonstrated experience managing all areas of Product Management, including marketing, competitive analysis, portfolio management, product roadmaps, price management, specifications and standards, new product development, etc…
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent teamwork skills, self-driven and accountable.
- Proven ability to lead/influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Able to travel approximately 30% of the time.
- Proven technical background and aptitude
- Responsive nature with strong sense of urgency to handle matters quickly
- Detail orientated with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
- Ability to manage time and multiple tasks/priorities
- Experience with extrusion is a plus

Within 3 Months, You’ll:

- Own product roadmaps for your products
- Understand and own stage gate process for new product development
- Collaborate with Sales to develop channel partners and programs
- Learn the PVC fittings pricing system.
- Learn the PVC electrical product portfolio and market segments.
- Learn technical information about the PVC product portfolio.
Within 6 Months, You’ll:
- Develop and implement company-wide go-to-market plans, working with all departments to execute
- Maintain and share relevant market intelligence
- Provide thought leadership to innovation team and product group
- Educate, train, and develop frontline sales team (inside and outside), national network of sales agents, and select distributors, contractors and OEM’s
- Demand creation for existing, proprietary, and new products through ongoing joint sales, engineering, and specification calls.
- Analyze product position in market relative to price, profitability, and market share and develop the core positioning and messaging for the product
- Work closely with the Product Engineering Team to drive product innovation and improve product margins through proactive VOCs and NPD processes
Within 12 Months, You’ll:
- Own the product category and define the product strategy including managing the project life cycle and developing and maintaining product roadmaps.
- Be the center of the hub and spokesperson for the category engaging cross-functionally to drive breakthrough results
- Have built a reputation as someone who is reliable, uses good judgment, hits deadlines, and has made mistakes that you’ve learned from.
- Be an expert with respect to the competition and product category; ongoing profiling and reporting of competitive strength and weakness
- Develop and execute action plans to achieve breakthrough results including maintaining and reporting out on action plans, KPI’s, and countermeasures.
