VulcanForms Inc. seeks a Manufacturing Engineer for our Devens, MA location.

 

Job Purpose

As a Manufacturing Engineer at VulcanForms Inc., Devens, MA, your main objective will be to provide engineering support and structure in the production of Optics Boxes and Fiber Head assembly. Develop standard work instructions, fixture improvements, robust methods of manufacturing for critical assemblies of the Laser 3D printers manufactured at VulcanForms.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in all aspects of manufacturing operations and health and safety regulations to achieve the highest standards and a safe work environment.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Learn and understand the assembly process for both optics boxes and fiber head assemblies
  • Develop / improve production level fixturing for both units
  • Streamline processes and apply lean principles
  • Write work instructions, methods of manufacture to repeatedly execute these assemblies
  • Focus on process optimization and manufacturing readiness
  • Change assessment, change orders, measurement methods and TMVs, CTQ implementation
  • Develop, implement, and maintain processes in manufacturing parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards and recommend tooling and process requirements
  • Work with Production Associates to resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment, and product design.
  • Use data-driven root cause and corrective action tool usage to support business goals & objectives.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs, and increase capacity.
  • Assist subcontractors in resolving manufacturing and quality-related issues.
  • Ensure the safety of all associates by identifying safety issues and taking measures to proactively address concerns and adhere to the safety policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a Manufacturing Engineer 
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations
  • Experience in complex, low-to-medium volume assemblies
  • Ability to streamline, improve existing  processes using applicable systems (process failure mode and effect analysis, fault tree analysis, process validation, process planning tools, design of experiments)
  • Experience in developing and incorporating new technologies into the manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, Quality Systems, and SPC tools

 

Preferred

  • Experience in Metal Additive Manufacturing.
  • Experience qualifying equipment for medical manufacturing.
  • Basic knowledge of optics
