We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical support and expertise in optimizing our operations. The primary responsibility of this role is to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs by eliminating waste. Key focus areas include process validation of product designs and continuous improvement in methodologies, material savings, and machining processes.

Working under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, this position supports the Customer Fulfillment initiatives at the North Tonawanda Plant and collaborates with various functional areas, including Project Engineering, OEM, Boosters, Hydronics, and Fire. Effective communication with both HVAC and Project Engineering is crucial for addressing manufacturing challenges.

In addition to annual initiatives, the key responsibilities are as follows:

Key Responsibilities:

• Process Optimization and Improvement

• • Enhance production processes and implement technical improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Identify and integrate new technologies and automation to boost output and quality.
  • Develop sustainable manufacturing practices to minimize environmental impact, including energy usage and waste generation.
  • Analyze workflows and layouts to identify bottlenecks and devise strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Implement corrective actions and process controls to improve first-time quality and throughput.

• New Product Development Support
  • Assist in the development of new products and processes.
  • Measure and improve process cycle times.
  • Collaborate with plant manufacturing to create and monitor labor routings, process control plans, and testing plans.
  • Participate in Kaizen activities and other process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate changes to labor routings and control plans to enhance operational productivity and quality.

• Manufacturing Performance Support

• • Support throughput and on-time performance initiatives within the Manufacturing Departments.
  • Create and monitor work cells and work instructions to enhance process controls and quality measures.
  • Conduct value stream analyses to optimize operational workflows.
  • Participate in daily triage reporting and weekly updates on actions supporting customer fulfillment initiatives.

• Engineering Change Order Support
  • Facilitate the Engineering Change Order process by reviewing and signing off on drawings in PDM promptly.
  • Collaborate on improving productivity in line with drawing changes.
  • Participate in weekly ECRB meetings to achieve deadlines and goals.

• Safety and Quality Initiatives
  • Support plant safety and quality initiatives by developing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and monitoring first-time quality (FTQ) metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Safety Committee to address quality and safety issues identified through FTQ and safety metrics.
  • Participate in monthly Health & Safety Committee meetings, presenting actions to support safety and quality goals.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

• A degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 5-7 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering within a manufacturing environment, with involvement in Engineering, Manufacturing, and distribution operations.
• Strong technical expertise in welding, machining, or large assembly processes.
• Ability to regularly be present on the shop floor.
• Proficiency in designing fixtures, tooling and drafting in SolidWorks.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Infor, SAP).
• A self-directed approach with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
• Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles, safety practices, and OSHA regulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct root cause analysis.
• Effective leadership skills with a proactive approach.
• Excellent communication skills, fostering an open and authentic environment.
