Manufacturing Engineer

Position Type: Full-time, Exempt, Salary

Reports to: Vice President – Digital Business

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Summary/Objective

The Manufacturing Engineer ensures and promotes efficient and cost-effective manufacturing by coordinating, monitoring and improving the existing processes, procedures and methods by which project management and engineering interface interact with fabrication and quality assurance/control.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides feedback on the scope of work, contract, specifications and supplementary client documentation.
  • Reviews project documentation to ensure the necessary information is provided to fabrication and that schedule commitments are not delayed.
  • Issues, tracks, and assists fabrication department and quality department with non-conformance reports.
  • Provides executive leadership with suggestions to reduce non-conformance occurrences, such as analysis of root causes and corrective actions.
  • Participates and/or conducts in-progress (internal or external) inspections and walkthroughs at the fabrication shop, sub-suppliers and site.
  • Provides office personnel with feedback gathered through fabrication to improve existing processes, procedures, standards and details.
  • Addresses and facilitates the resolution of fabrication questions related to engineering and sub-supplier details, products, and processes during project execution.
  • Plays an integral role in project lessons learned meetings at the conclusion of projects.
  • Assist in tracking and forecasting fabrication shop manhours and material costs for Project Management during project execution.
  • Supports business development processes by developing fabrication estimates for proposal opportunities.
  • Maintains the Manufacturing Schedule
  • Develops and maintains the Manufacturing Execution System
  • Maintains shop load reports, including manpower and floor space availability
  • Models potential building layout improvements for consideration
  • Assists with ROI evaluations of manufacturing improvements
  • Prepares for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct supervisory duties, but does include directing team members regarding project related activities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing / assembly environment. This role routinely uses standard construction-type equipment such as ladders and hoists as well as office equipment such as machines. Some of the work will require exposure to loud noises or fumes in the facility.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is primarily not required with exception to local travel during the business day. Additionally, some projects may require out-of-state, out-of-country and overnight travel up to 30%

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 2 years dealing with project schedules.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in engineering, manufacturing or related discipline; and
  • 5 years of experience in the power, oil & gas, data center and / or district energy industries.

Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in USA.
