Job Description

AZZ has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer at our Fort Worth Texas corporate office. Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for overseeing capital projects and expenditures aimed at enhancing manufacturing processes. Your role will involve reducing operational costs, eliminating production bottlenecks, and increasing productivity while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • Provide leadership in initial planning stage by collaborating with facilities, management, engineers, maintenance, or other involved stakeholders.
  • Develop, design, and perform cost estimation for capital expense projects, including the preparation and submission of Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs).
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to budget and execution schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to the budget when unexpected complications or issues arise by making quick and necessary adjustments.
  • Evaluate projects for all stakeholders and provide a Return on Investment (ROI) analysis utilizing various methods.

Technical Expertise:

  • Provide technical support to departments for safe and efficient installations.
  • Evaluate and specify equipment and materials necessary for project execution.
  • Lead engineering design, installation, and startup phases of projects.
  • Have an understanding on material characteristics and how they provide value under less-than-ideal conditions.
  • Understand geometric construction to create facility layouts, construction drawings, and design machines.
  • Provide detailed specifications for construction.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Uphold a strong commitment to health and safety policies, ensuring safety is prioritized in all project designs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations to minimize risks to public safety and the environment. 
  • Assist in navigating local environmental permitting processes, ensuring adherence to regulations affecting air, water, and social impacts. 
  • Adhere to all safety practices and participate in safety committees as assigned. Promote a culture of safety across all project initiatives.

Vendor Coordination:

  • Liaise with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to evaluate bids and coordinate service requirements.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with a variety of people, including owners, managers, designers, supervisors, tradespersons, and craft workers.
  • Responsible for assembling craft workforce to execute the projects in a timely manner.
Qualifications

  • 1-5 years of experience in engineering and project management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including macro writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across various teams.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge on industrial ventilation, industrial make-up air units, and dust collection

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related fields.
  • Certifications related to role highly desired, i.e. Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE), Certified Plant Engineer (CPE), Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), Engineer in Training (EIT), Project Management Professional (PMP)
