Job Purpose:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for optimizing the performance of a designated group of machines and manual workstations within a high-speed assembly line. The role involves improving production processes, developing technical documentation, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with various departments to ensure continuous improvement and efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Machine and Workstation Expertise:
- Serve as the subject matter expert for 5-10 machines and manual workstations within the assembly line.
- Provide technical support, addressing issues to ensure smooth operation and reduce downtime.
- Technical Documentation:
- Develop and regularly update technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Out of Control Action Plans (OCAP), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Corrective Actions (CA).
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date to facilitate troubleshooting and operator training.
- Daily Improvement and Issue Resolution:
- Participate in daily Managing Daily Improvement (MDI) meetings to identify and address bottlenecks affecting production output.
- Collaborate with the Material Review Board (MRB) to analyze root causes and implement corrective actions for the top three quality issues each day.
- Training and Operator Certification:
- Develop training materials for machine and workstation operations, and provide documentation to the On-the-Job Trainers (OJT) team.
- Conduct operator certification after training to ensure proper operation of machines and adherence to standards.
- Maintenance Coordination:
- Work closely with the equipment team to address machine stoppages that require Emergency Maintenance (EM), ensuring issues are resolved quickly to minimize downtime.
- Schedule and evaluate the effectiveness of Preventative Maintenance (PM) for the assigned machine group.
- Resource Management and Continuous Improvement:
- Manage resources within the assigned group to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for production efficiency, quality, and output.
- Drive Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives by analyzing machine performance and implementing process improvements.
- Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with project engineers on improvement projects for the assigned machines, ensuring alignment during all phases.
- Work with Quality Engineers to resolve ongoing quality issues and develop engineering changes to prevent future occurrences.
- Coordinate with Technical Engineers for material-related tests and changes as needed.
- Vendor and External Communication:
- Facilitate communication with foreign vendors and external resources, including coordination with Jinko HQ in China for issues related to the assigned machine group.
- Utilize company-provided A.I. translation software to assist in communication if needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Expertise in troubleshooting and optimizing complex machinery and robotics applications.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with a working knowledge of Project and Visio.
- Ability to manage resources effectively to meet KPIs and drive Continuous Improvement.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a STEM-related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-speed assembly line or manufacturing environment.
- Six Sigma certification is a plus.
- Bilingual in Chinese/English is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on the production floor, standing or sitting for extended periods.
- Ability to handle occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
