Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
The candidate will be responsible for process development, implementation, and transfer of medical device manufacturing operations to a contract manufacturer. This individual will work closely with product development and manufacturing teams implementing DFM by generating experimental results to justify process parameters and technologies. This candidate must have the ability to support manufacturing at various production scales, from prototype to high-volume manufacturing. Responsibilities include project management covering all phases from concept through installation, support, and training. This candidate must have the flexibility to travel to support manufacturing operations at contract manufacturers along with the development of capital equipment at external partners.
Requirements
Education:
BS or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
- 10 - 15 years’ experience in a medical device manufacturing environment
Skills (Required):
- Experience in a medical manufacturing environment, especially with custom assembly equipment, specifically working with external suppliers to develop custom capital equipment.
- Ability to author manufacturing work instructions, drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Strong background in process development and validation (IQ, OQ, PQ, and Test Methods).
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations at a contract manufacturer.
- Strong background in problem-solving.
- Managing projects and project teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills.
Skills (Preferred):
- Knowledge and experience with Ultrasonic welding, thermal staking, assembly, and sterile packaging manufacturing techniques.
- Knowledge of Design of Experiment (DOE) techniques and methodologies.
- Able to work in a team environment and lead cross-functional project teams.
- Experience working with raw material supplies and contract manufacturing.
Software:
- Solidworks, Minitab, PLC
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to infrequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
