Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining manufacturing processes to support the team with machining/assembly of a wide variety of components and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Program CNC machining centers including turning, milling, grinding, and gear shaping.
  • To ensure the manufacturing process is current; review and develop methods to optimize production.
  • Analyze costs to meet manufacturing budgets.
  • Provide assistance with researching, preparing, and presenting cost / benefit analysis of capital equipment.
  • Select and specify tooling packages for all machine shop operations.
  • Work closely with department peers to review new product concepts and designs for manufacturability.
  • Troubleshoot production floor issues.
  • Provide technical support to outside machining and assembly suppliers as required.
  • Be aware of current and emerging technologies and manufacturing practices to increase company efficiencies.
  • This position will require daily interaction with other departments and outside suppliers in support of operations.

Requirements

  • Experience in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling
  • Developing CNC programs
  • Working knowledge of Solidworks/3D CAD software
  • Mastercam or other CAM software.
  • Understand Microsoft Office Suite to create documentation, spreadsheets, and databases to support manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with developing machining processes for aluminum and ductile castings and a variety of alloy steels.
  • Working knowledge of inspection gages, CMM's, and inspection methodologies.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods, fabrication processes, heat treating, welding, and machine operation.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and SPC concepts.
  • Proficient in geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Proven professional qualities including strong initiative, integrity, and the desire / ability to work in a team environment.
