Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will review work orders, determine the required components and design requirements, and generate routings and standard work the products utilizing lean principles and a quality mindset. This role involves serving as a lead manufacturing engineer for the fabrication area, providing proper documentation, training, and communication of product/process-related information. The engineer will perform time studies, suggest design improvements, and lead process improvement projects in a production environment. Additionally, they will investigate procurement of equipment, process Engineering Change Notices, improve safety in manufacturing, and develop and maintain standard work for assigned areas and processes.

Job Description

The engineer will perform time studies, suggest design improvements, and lead process improvement projects in a production environment. Additionally, they will investigate procurement of equipment, process Engineering Change Notices, improve safety in manufacturing, and develop and maintain standard work for assigned areas and processes.
Responsibilities
- Review work orders and pull available prints, standard work, and specifications to determine required components and design requirements.
- Generate routings and standard work for products utilizing lean principles and a quality mindset.
- Serve as a lead manufacturing engineer for the fabrication area, providing proper documentation, training, and communication of product/process-related information to line supervision and shop personnel.
- Perform time studies to facilitate process improvements.
- Suggest and work with Design Engineering to make improvements in the design of products or systems to reduce cost, improve quality, and manufacturability of parts and assemblies.
- Utilize lean principles to implement changes as a leader, participant, and initiator.
- Lead process improvement projects in a production environment.
- Investigate and make recommendations on the procurement of equipment to improve the manufacturing process and/or assembly of products.
- Process Engineering Change Notices in a timely manner, communicate those changes to the appropriate shop personnel, and update standard work as required.
- Improve safety in manufacturing by analyzing current and proposed manufacturing processes, aiming to reduce material handling and improve ergonomics or safety.
- Develop and maintain standard work for assigned areas and processes.
- Process action items, non-conforming material, and Corrective Action Requests in a timely manner.
- Provide assistance to Marketing by supplying labor and material costs for special equipment when needed.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing.
- Strong welding knowledge.
- Experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes including metal forming (brake press).
- Experience with process and tooling design for steel-based products.
- Lean/Six Sigma and set-up reduction experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated project management experience with results in achieving targeted deliverables in product performance, cost, and schedule.
- Prior pull systems or cellular manufacturing experience is preferred.
