Job Description
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will work directly with the production and engineering teams to create and optimize product manufacturing for cost, functionality, and efficiency utilizing modern production equipment. The Manufacturing Engineer will create programs for our CNC routers, benders, and lasers utilizing SolidWorks and SolidWorks CAM. The Manufacturing Engineer will work with the engineering team to develop new production methods, provide feedback regarding design for manufacturability, and provide feedback regarding proposed improvements. The perfect candidate for this role is adaptable, enthusiastic, self-reliant, and able to handle several projects simultaneously.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Create and optimize programs for CNC routers, laser cutters, benders, and robotic welding equipment using SolidWorks and SolidWorks CAM.
· Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to enhance manufacturing processes and drive efficiency improvements to reduce costs, improve flow, boost overall productivity, and maintain safety protocols.
· Enhance basic work procedures for the operations team, fostering a culture of continual improvement and best practices.
· Improve flow and productivity in the operations areas.
· Review supplier manufacturing plans to ensure products will meet quality standards.
· Own and develop machine and maintenance SOPs.
· Communicate daily with supporting departments such as production, machining, maintenance, quality, and design engineering to ensure that product is delivered on time.
· Refine manufacturing documentation including process routing, costing, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Ability to work well with others in an office and manufacturing shop environment, possess good work ethics, and a positive attitude.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks and SolidWorks CAM (or equivalent), CAD required.
· 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment.
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
· The ability to take on new projects and process improvements.
· Good working knowledge of fabrication processes and equipment in a high-volume production environment.
· Excellent Organizational skills
· Analyze recurring manufacturing discrepancies and interface with the quality team on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
· Must be able to read and create basic drawings with tolerances and sub-assemblies.
· Familiar with lean manufacturing principles in a high-volume production environment.
· Basic understanding of QC processes and metrics.
· Demonstrated work history of progressively increasing responsibility.
· Experience with Lean Six Sigma or equivalent high-performance culture systems
· CNC mill, CNC Lathe, welding knowledge, and other machine shop experience helpful.
· SurfCAM, SolidWorks PDM, SAGE or other ERP experience a plus
· Spanish speaking a plus
