Description
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will oversee and guide the manufacturing engineering team, focusing on designing, implementing, and refining manufacturing processes and systems. This role requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of manufacturing practices, a track record of successful project management, and a commitment to driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Optimization: Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. Continuously assess and optimize production workflows.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians. Foster a collaborative environment and ensure team alignment with production goals.
- Project Management: Manage manufacturing projects from conception through to completion. Oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and budget adherence.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure that products meet or exceed industry standards and specifications. Address quality issues and drive corrective actions.
- Equipment and Tools: Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and tools. Ensure that equipment is properly calibrated and functioning optimally.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing processes with product designs and requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, procedures, and performance metrics. Provide regular reports to senior management on manufacturing performance and project status.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a proven track record in leading manufacturing operations and process improvements.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in guiding and developing engineering teams.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and equipment management. Proficiency in manufacturing software and tools (e.g., CAD, ERP systems).
- Project Management: Experience managing manufacturing projects, including planning, execution, and resource management.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex manufacturing challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present information clearly.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance.
- Education: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 6+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with significant experience in aerospace or high-tech industries.
- Advanced Skills: Expertise in advanced manufacturing techniques, process optimization, and technology integration.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in manufacturing or project management (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt, PMP) are highly desirable.
- Industry Experience: Extensive experience in aerospace or space technology sectors, particularly with complex and high-precision manufacturing environments.
- Innovation: Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and systems.
