Currently we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer Lead to join our team in optimizing and improving our manufacturing processes for refuse vehicles. This role will be instrumental in supporting continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across various manufacturing stages. The Manufacturing Engineer Lead will report to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.

The Manufacturing Engineer Lead will report to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Project Planning and Execution: Lead the development and implementation of complex projects focused on improving safety, quality, and productivity. Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements. Ensure projects are executed on time and within budget to meet top down goals.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analysis and critical thinking to identify improvement opportunities, evaluate project effectiveness, and make informed decisions that optimize manufacturing processes.
- ERP System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage ERP systems for material planning, inventory management, and production scheduling, ensuring efficient resource allocation and streamlined operations.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with various departments, including manufacturing engineering, production, quality assurance, and safety, to identify improvement opportunities, gain buy-in for project initiatives, and foster a culture of collaboration.
- Process Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing processes, including fabrication, paint, wiring, hydraulics, and pneumatics, to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement solutions to streamline operations, reduce waste, and increase throughput.
- Tooling and Fixture Design: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of tooling and fixturing solutions that enhance manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and equipment utilization.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk assessments for improvement projects, identify potential obstacles, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Change Management: Facilitate effective change management processes to ensure smooth adoption and implementation of new processes, technologies, or initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement Culture: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting best practices, encouraging employee engagement, and recognizing achievements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or +10yrs experience in Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in leading and managing complex projects in a heavy equipment manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, paint, wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, and tool design.
- Experience in finding and developing equipment, tooling and material suppliers.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and their application in manufacturing.
- Ability to identify problems through analytical reasoning and resolve issues through creative thought processes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative style.
- This role may have direct reports and will be responsible for their professional growth and development.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) is a plus
- Experience with change management principles and practices.
- Familiarity with safety and quality management system
