Job Description
We are privately held American owned Small Business made up of five (5) vertically integrated manufacturing and assembly divisions, each with their own history, specializations and products.
Teletronic Division of DCX-CHOL Enterprises Inc. is actively seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineers with the following qualifications.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The manufacturing - process engineer will be responsible for evaluating and improving the manufacturing process: drawings, tooling, documentation for repeat travelers and tickets for cabling harnesses, electromechanical assembly/equipment; while configuring manufacturing systems to improve safety/ergonomics, increase of OTD (On-Time Delivery), improve quality, reduce manufacturing costs, and increase productivity. This role will also include the introduction and transition of released first article/build into mainstream production, in addition to, developing best practices within the manufacturing process while utilizing lean manufacturing methodology.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop, document, and communicate process methods thoroughly through the work instructions (traveler), master traveler included
• Train and coach manufacturing shop personnel on work instruction (traveler) build and process requirement
• Lead, proactively identify and immediately resolve manufacturing flow interruptions to eliminate production line stoppage
• Identify and correct issues related to manufacturing (repeats) travelers, BOM (bill of materials) and process time standards for job orders and quotes.
• Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards
• Plan and conduct experimental trials using current, modified, or new processes to eliminate production scrap
• Plan, define and coordinate new project releases into manufacturing
• Coordinate and collaborate with DCX CHOL project engineer on new product release into manufacturing
• Work with internal DCX-CHOL departments to supply deliverable dates or times for each key project milestone
• Work with DCX-CHOL purchasing team and necessary vendors to ensure that all items have been procured correctly and delivered within an acceptable timeframe
• Transform batch & queue processes to one-piece continuous flow lines and balance operations to Takt Time
• Respond / attend to production tickets
• Issue change notices for missing material
• Ensure that each project task is progressing and follow-up daily to ensure momentum is maintained
• Provide weekly status reports on activities and progress
• Be able to communicate to all levels of the organization through written or verbal format when it comes to advice on incident investigation, corrective action, collecting, recording, and transcribing data, as well as showing results in various types of reports
• Work and develop manufacturing plans, if required, with production managers and department manage
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES:
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
• The individual possesses 3 - 5 years of engineering experience with project, equipment and assembly development in a military, aerospace or medical business environment
• Experienced in the manufacturing of cable, electromechanical assembly and/or test systems is highly preferred
• Experience with evaluating, implementing new manufacturing processes with an AS9100/ISO9001 environment is highly desirable
• Six Sigma Certification is preferred
• Working knowledge of DMAIC process would be a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Strong computer skills using Solidworks: Computer Aided Design (CAD), AutoCAD, Visio and business applications such as Adobe Acrobat, Image Manipulation Software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project & Teams, Asana and Outlook
• Ability to direct or create CAD models of a fidelity that is appropriate for the task
• Be both electrically and mechanically inclined; have a technical understanding and ability to read engineering and electromechanical drawings with engineering drafting standards and conventions
• Familiar with military specifications and standards for use in military and specialized product
• Detail oriented with a biased curiosity that results in action and results
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders
• Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodology
• Proven ability to create, foster, and work in a team-oriented environment.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
• Lead and participate in RCA (root cause analysis), CAPA (corrective and preventive actions) and problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter who is motivated to implement positive change on the manufacturing floor
• Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks at one time.
• Must be “hands on.”
• Work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize daily activities, collaborate to make technical decisions within the scope of the instructions, and produce consistent, accurate timely work
