You will play a crucial role in leading the charge in transforming the production processes. In this role, you will design and implement automation solutions, optimize plant layouts, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will enhance productivity and product quality, ensuring that manufacturing operations are at the forefront of industry standards. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, mechanical aptitude, and a strong understanding of manufacturing and production. Key Responsibilities:
- Innovate and Transform: Develop and implement lean manufacturing solutions to streamline production processes and minimize waste.
- Optimize Operations: Design efficient plant layouts that maximize the use of materials, equipment, and labor.
- Enhance Productivity: Use data-driven approaches to identify and implement improvements that boost productivity and product quality.
- Collaborate and Lead: Work closely with cross-functional teams to champion automation and process improvement projects.
- Solve Complex Challenges: Apply your analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve bottlenecks, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Impactful Projects: Lead high-visibility projects from feasibility studies to the creation of plant layouts, material flow designs, and equipment optimization plans.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead automation projects to enhance quality, increase yields, and reduce operating costs and downtime.
- Integrate robotics, EOAT, cameras, sensors, and other automation technologies into manufacturing processes.
- Introduce and implement innovative technologies to support production and processing engineers.
- Source, evaluate, test, install, and troubleshoot equipment to improve processes.
- Modify existing equipment to meet business needs and improve efficiency.
- Troubleshoot issues with processes and hardware, including pneumatics, electrical systems, PLC logic, vision cameras, barcode scanners, robotics, and networking/database systems.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex problems and implement solutions.
- Create detailed work instructions and provide technical support to various teams, including Manufacturing, QA, Purchasing, and Warehouse.
- Support production trials to ensure timely project completion.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by making suggestions and proposing new ideas.
- Be open to new ideas and innovation from all sources.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in automation within a manufacturing environment, preferably with plastics.
- Background in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, or Industrial Engineering (Bachelor's Degree preferred).
- Knowledge of plastics, medical device, or pharmaceutical processing.
- Understanding of cGMP and FDA manufacturing requirements.
- Experience with aseptic filling of pharmaceutical products or Blow-Fill-Seal technology is a plus.
- PLC programming skills, including S5 and S7 logic, are a plus.
- Familiarity with FMEA, DOE, and Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma tools is a plus.
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of associates, both internally and externally.
- Observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
