Manufacturing Engineer Internship

Scot Forge Company is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2025 at the corporate facility in Spring Grove, IL. This internship at Scot Forge will provide a variety of experiences and exposure to the Manufacturing Engineering profession. This intern will be supporting the engineering and production team through their daily tasks and projects that relate to our machining operations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing with a disciplined approach to problem solving in program launches, setup, rework, and continuous improvement.
  • Gain an understanding of current and potential process capabilities and process control limits to improve quality.
  • Help identify and provide solutions for improving factory through put and balance, limiting production constraints/bottlenecks, reduce cycle times and reduce scrap and waste.
  • Create/update/maintain routings, work instructions and blueprints to meet customer specifications and quality standards in the most cost-efficient manner.
  • Design and present Fixture & Tool Designs for CNC Machines.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in a Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Technology Degree. Sophomore credit standing or higher.
  • Knowledge of project management skills to develop work agreements, project scopes, specifications, schedules, timelines, and definition of deliverables.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or other CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills

  • Effective collaborator with strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes.
  • Previous exposure to CNC machining or machinery
  • Geometrical Tolerance specification/application knowledge.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Office Environment/Factory Floor

Additional Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S.
  • Must be able to pass a 90 day head hair drug test today.
