We currently seek a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our Cable Engineering department in our division located in Avon, CT, to help support our continued business growth.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes for specialty fiber optic cables. Key duties include implementing new processes, improving existing ones, and troubleshooting production issues to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall performance.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement new manufacturing processes for specialty fiber optic cables, ensuring alignment with quality, safety, and cost requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate new process designs for prototype and full-scale production.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Monitor key process performance metrics and leverage data-driven insights to implement optimizations, supporting the company's Industry 4.0 transformation.
- Diagnose and resolve process-related issues to minimize downtime and ensure consistent production quality.
- Conduct root cause analysis on process failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for new and existing processes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Ensure all processes are compliant with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with production, quality assurance, and R&D teams to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance to production operators and technicians on process-related matters.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 - 5+ years of experience in process engineering, preferably in specialty fiber optic cable manufacturing or a related industry.
- Experience with developing and optimizing manufacturing processes, ideally with exposure to Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve process issues quickly.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory standards.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
